Corporate social responsibility
Sustainability is a megatrend for business and society alike and one from which companies can no longer escape. The Serviceplan Group actively advises companies on how they can rise to this challenge and guard against risking their reputation by underestimating the importance of any discussion on sustainability. At the Serviceplan Group, we are also striving to make our business more sustainable - step-by-step, every day.
For the Serviceplan Group, sustainable business management consists of three dimensions:
We want our staff to rank as some of the best in the industry and keep them as long-term employees within the companies in the Serviceplan Group.
For this reason, we consider employee satisfaction to be very important and we are striving to further enhance this by means of appropriate measures. In order to make employee satisfaction feasible, we conduct annual staff surveys, discuss the results of these and identify the subsequent steps we need to take to increase levels of satisfaction. Furthermore, we offer new members of staff open-ended contracts of employment, in order to reinforce our long-term commitment to them. In this way, we are seeking to keep staff turnover below 15% on an ongoing basis.
Our staff objective and motivation programme KIKK already ensures that, as well as taking account of values, such as sales, matters pertaining to sustainability, such as customer and employee satisfaction, are included when measuring the overall performance of each individual.
Our advanced training programme "Campus" is available to all members of staff to support their practical development. It gives all employees the chance to participate regularly in seminars that are organised by experienced colleagues from our agencies. The aim is to enable our staff to have ongoing technical training and to develop leadership qualities so that we can fill vacancies from our own internal resources. Members of staff with management responsibilities are coached individually to prepare them for their role.
Once a year, we also hold a major joint event, where staff from all locations and agencies in the Serviceplan Group gather together to get to know each other a little better on a personal level, to network with each other, to discuss new topics and trends or to compare experiences and expertise across departmental boundaries. Our sports programme weSport supports the sporting activity of all members of staff. weCare assists members of staff in emergency situations. However, Serviceplan also uses weCare to help others. For example, our support for Munich's Kinderkunsthaus art workshop demonstrates our commitment to the often neglected creative development of young people in our society. We also implement three pro bono campaigns each year, making funds as well as staff time available to support good causes.
For us, environmental sustainability means the careful handling of natural resources and thus focuses on three areas: These days, communication institutions comply with the latest efficient building standards. Energy efficiency has continued to improve in recent years, as a result of the district heating connection, dispensing with air-conditioning systems, using more energy-efficient lighting and hardware, as well as installing resource- and energy-saving central printer-, scanner- and fax stations. This year, we also intend to fully convert all sites in Germany to green electricity. Travel is replaced, as far as possible, by video conferences, which save both time and resources.
We consider long-term planning and action to be important from a business point of view. Experience has taught us that reserves ensure we retain the security that is necessary in a volatile business. We are therefore also aiming to remain financially independent. There will be no contributions from financial investors. We already have an equity ratio of around 20%, which we shall gradually be increasing to 25%. Our partners are co-owners of the agency, as we are more interested in long-term business success rather than maximising our income in the short-term.
