About us

Vision

What binds us all together is the passion to develop and to coach fascinating brands. Brands that are economically successful and that evoke emotions in the minds of consumers – in other words: Best Brands. Innovative communication is the path to this goal. That means finding new ways to move the hearts of consumers: creatively, through media, technologically and by integrating all three. We live this claim of turning brands into best brands every day at the "Haus der Kommunikation" (House of Communication).

Partner model

A key factor in the success of Serviceplan is the partnership model, which was developed with the objective of preventing sales of agency shares to international networks. Each company in the Serviceplan Group is therefore managed by one or two managing directors who also own substantial stakes. The strings are all pulled together in the holding company that was founded in 1995. As a result of the Serviceplan Group’s growth since its founding in 1970, around 40 specialist agencies have come into being. Today these are all independent and partner-managed under the umbrella of Serviceplan Holding and the associated agency brands Serviceplan, Mediaplus, Plan.Net, Facit and Solutions.

Glocalize

Serviceplan Group is the largest owner-managed and partner-managed agency group in Europe. By the mid-90s, Serviceplan had become the first communication agency to venture into the growing online market and had also adjusted to the requirements of the future in the area of media. Today, the additional corporate brands within the Group – Plan.Net, Mediaplus, Facit and Solutions – also rank among the market leaders in their respective fields. This precise interplay between the various specialist agencies, more than 45 in all, in creation, technology and media, makes us the leading agency group for innovative communication. Our Serviceplan group companies currently have more than 4,100 employees whose work regularly wins awards at national and international creative competitions. Mediaplus and Plan.Net have established themselves in their respective markets as top 5 or top 10 agencies over many years.

CSR

At Serviceplan Group we strive to make our business more sustainable step by step, day by day, which is exactly what our clients, employees and the public can expect from us. It is their confidence in us which gives us the possibility to move, shape and innovate. For Serviceplan Group sustainable business management has three dimensions: people, environment and finance. We want our staff to be among the best in the business. We also want to keep them as long-term employees within Serviceplan Group companies. To improve employee satisfaction, we conduct annual staff surveys, discuss the results of these and identify the next steps necessary to increase levels of satisfaction. Furthermore, we offer new members of staff open-ended employment contracts to reinforce our long-term commitment to them. In this way we aim to keep staff turnover below 15%. For more info on what we offer our employees, please see our career pages. For us, environmental sustainability means the careful handling of natural resources and finding alternatives for waste. Travel is replaced, as far as possible, by video conferences, which save both time and resources. Our energy efficiency has continued to improve in recent years, with heat from district heating networks, dispensing with air-conditioning systems, using more energy-efficient lighting and hardware, as well as installing resource and energy saving central printer, scanner and fax stations. Where possible, we convert all our sites to green electricity. We consider long-term planning and action to be important from a business point of view. Experience has taught us that adequate reserves ensure we retain the stability necessary in a volatile business environment. We wish to remain financially independent, with no contributions from financial investors. We already have an equity ratio of around 20%, which we shall gradually be increasing to 25%. Our partners are co-owners of the agency, as we are more interested in long-term business success rather than maximizing our short-term income.

History

Dr. Peter Haller and Rolf O. Stempel launched the agency in Munich in 1970 with two employees and one customer. Together, they believed in a new type of agency: interdisciplinary, holistic and integrated. The project's name expressed this. Serviceplan has been growing continuously since then. Each House of Communication combines all modern communication disciplines under one roof – all working together. Serviceplan's partner participation model is another key to success of the group. The partner model was developed to avoid sales of company shares to international networks. Every individual company in the Serviceplan Group is therefore managed by one or two managing directors who are also substantial shareholders. The strings are all pulled together in the holding that was founded in 1995 and is currently managed by Florian Haller, Dr Peter Haller, Ronald Focken, Fabian Prüschenk and Alexander Schill. In July 2002, Dr Peter Haller passed on the role of Chief Executive Officer to Florian Haller. This move completed the restructuring of the Serviceplan Group which had been planned well in advance. Peter Haller and Rolf O. Stempel had decided on this change in management eight years previously. Following the change in management in 2002, Florian Haller continued in the development of the specialist agencies and at the same time also began establishing the success model of the Haus der Kommunikation (House of Communication) in other cities. At the same time, the group initiated the international expansion of Serviceplan, which enabled us to be to be present in the most important global commercial centres. You can find a detailed table presenting the performance of Serviceplan in our Press Centre.

Art

Serviceplan is closely connected to art. Art means expressing creativity and imagination – qualities required in our business and at our offices on a daily basis. Without the conception of new ideas, creating innovative communication simply would not be possible. The genres stimulate one another and their borders are fluid and changeable. Every day, employees and visitors can view a collection of abstract art from 1948 onwards in the House of Communication. The Serviceplan Collection includes inter alia; Francis Bacon, Stephan Balkenhol, Georg Baselitz, Alexander Calder, Tony Cragg, Rupprecht Geiger, Nikolaus Hipp, Alex Katz, Anselm Kiefer, Heinz Mack, Marino Marini, Jonathan Meese, Georg Meistermann, Victor Mira, Joan Miró, Yoshimoto Nara, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, A.R. Penck, Otto Piene, Serge Poliakoff, Emil Schumacher, Sean Scully, Antoni Tápies, Victor Vasarely, Fritz Winter, Fritz Wotruba and many more major artists. Collection Serviceplan. Art after 1945. Approximately 70 artists and more than 250 artworks. If you are interested in a guided tour (groups of more than 30 people), please contact our press team.
